Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN...

Chrysalis UK Certificate 12

Genre : Sci-Fi

Directed by : Tony Baez Milan

Starring : John Klemantaski/Darren Kendrick

As our world suffers the ravages of humankind, scientists look for ways to sustain life. When one of them falls ill and a chrysalis forms around him, a tug of war ensues about the future of the stricken scientist... and ultimately the fate of the Earth...

<><><>

Based on a Ray Bradbury Story...To my mind did not translate well to a movie...so I think really for Hardcore Sci-Fi & Bradbury Fans only.

I think a larger budget would have helped, still the Special effects were not Bad.

In Time

Genre: Action / Sci-Fi / Thriller

Director: Andrew Niccol

Welcome to a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there's a catch: you're genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich "earn" decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo's love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system......................

Battleship

Genre: Action / Sci-Fi

Director: Peter Berg

Battleship 2012 movie is a story of an international Navy fleet engaged in a very dynamic and intense battle against an alien race known as "The Regents". R&B singer Rihanna makes her acting debut in the film.

Their one possible escape route is through thirteen levels of terror that will lead them to the surface. And one of them is not who they seem to be, but the darkness itself which has taken human form.

<><><>

Not as good as one would have hoped...Passable performances (only just) did not lift an average Storyline...nor did the creatures who seemed to be copies from other films..
A big disappointment.

One for die hard Sci-Fi/Horror fans.

<><><>

Well not the best of the Franchise....more to do with effects than a half way decent Storytline...Performances were average, much less engaging & I felt the Direction somewhat lazy in execution.

One for Transformer Fans then..

High Lane aka Vertige
UK Certificate 15

Genre: Adventure/Horror

Directed by : Abel Ferry

A group of friends on vacation decide to venture onto a trail high up in the mountains that has been closed for repairs. The climb proves more perilous than planned, especially as they soon realize that they are not alone. The adventure turns into a nightmare.....

<><><>

This movie promised much but fell away (no pun intended) in the second part. The early scenes of climbing gave new meaning to vertigo..trually awsome...But the secondhalf just became a very average slasher horror which has been scripted better elsewhere.
Still worth a look...
