Total Racall (remake)
UK Certificate 12

Douglas Quaid is a factory worker with a beautiful wife living in a futuristic world where the majority of the earth has been rendered uninhabitable. Quaid finds himself thrust into the midst of a global conspiracy when the procedure to implant a secret agent mission into his memory goes wrong - or does it?

<><><>

This version is not set on Mars but a futuristic Earth.....The Storyline is average but is lifted by awsome CGI effects & action sequences. Performances as expected from A list actors.

I prefer the original with Arnold Schwarzenger...The characters were much more engaging.

Anyway one for Sci-Fi & action addicts.

The Day
UK Certificate 18

Genre : Drama/Sci-Fi/Thriller

Directed by : Douglas Aarniokoski

Starring : Shawn Ashmore/Ashley Bell/Michael Eklund

Set in the near future in a post-apocalyptic time, five survivors struggle to get through each day. They are on the move to find food and other survivors as well as a safe place to hold up for a while. They stumble across a dilapidated house in the country, so they check it out when things turn bad. The house is not as safe as they hoped, and there are other people who have morbid uses for them. Will they survive?

<><><>

A hard hitting often brutal storyline with some good performances..
It is not a zombie movie, more like two groups who have chosen different life styles..

Not for all then, however Sci-Fi/Horror addicts may like it.

6/10

St. George's Day
UK Certificate 18

Genre : Action/Crime/Thriller

Directed by : Frank Harper

Starring : Craig Fairbrass/Vincent Regan/Ashley Walters

Infamous London gangster cousins, Micky Mannock and Ray Collishaw, are at the top of the food chain, when their world is turned upside down as they lose a shipment of the Russian Mafia's cocaine in rough seas. Set in London, Amsterdam and Berlin, the story races across Europe at breakneck speed as Micky and Ray attempt to stay one step ahead of the Police. Can they pull off a daring diamond heist in time to put things right and retire to a "legitimate" way of life.

<><><>

A typical Eastender gangster movie...Gritty, Brutal & up front.
The Storyline is average, but for my money the performances were spot on.

Worth a look

6/10

UFO
UK Certificate 15

Genre : Sci-Fi

Directed by : Dominic Burns

Starring : Bianca Bree/Sean Brosnan/Simon Phillips

A violent earthquake is followed by strange lights in the sky. All power has been cut across the planet. As the clouds clear, a UFO appears, a UFO the size of a city.
The attack has yet to begin but with no electricity, humanity is helpless in the face of a vast alien army. The battle for earth is drawn gear and everyone will need to fight not just for their own survival but for that of the human race.

<><><>

A low budget confusing storyline with the usual constantly moving jirky camera work...Not to my taste.
To be honest I was disappointed & felt even with the constraints of the budget could have been much better.
I am not sure who was at fault...The Director or the Writer.
Less said the better on the performances.

The only real highlight was the CGI effects, near the end of the movie, & the trailer.....

So not for me...

Jaded Richard Grindle (Ross Noble) is the sleaziest clown working the children s party circuit in Ireland. Arriving late to one birthday, his timing is off, the bratty kids a nightmare and a prank goes horribly wrong - he falls on a kitchen knife and goes to that Big Top in the sky. Years later the same nasty kids attend another more grown up bash. Little do they know, thanks to a black magic clown cult, Stitches will be the uninvited guest of honour seeking revenge on those responsible for his untimely death.

This film reminds me of something out of the eighties with laughs.....
Enjoyable nonsense.....with gore.

This film has its moments in a traditional horror drama.....Disconcerting moments & scares, and in the most part an engaging Storyline....sadly let down by the ending...
