A lucky seal survived the attack of a great white shark by counterbalancing on the shark's nose. A 41-year-old photographer, David Baz Jenkins spotted this 'fight' while he was on a ship recording sharks near Cape Town coast in South Africa.

The photos show that the seal could escape from 'the throat of death' counterbalacing on the shark's nose only a few cms from the keen teeth.

"Sharks are well cloaked underwater because of their dark backs. When seals look down its very difficult to spot the danger awaiting them. When the pictures were taken, the seals were currently returning from Seal-Island and the sharks were swimming under them looking for prey. When a shark is preparing for an attack, can reach a speed of 40km/h and they almost 'fly out' from the water." - said Jenkins.
