I know this isn't everyone's type of game but the visual of it looks so good.

That project seems ambitious.
  • I am a little afraid that, wanting to make an 'all-in' game, they lose themselves on the way.
  • Space simulation: spaceships (combat) + cities (economical/trading with virtual money)
  • Enhanced RPG with bonus: psychology/relations with copilot affect missions/outcome!
  • Scripted missions/Free play
  • Singleplay/Cooperation/Multiplay
  • MMO with all real-time physics and HD rendering (which means potentially a lot of people at the same time), of course... Do they promise 100 FPS and no lags too? :P
I cannot help but noticing how well polished is hteir communication. Everything is the the video of the 1st link!
  • 'I am a serious game creator, I made a break and now I am back into business to kick asses, trust me. You do not know my name? That is probably because you were not born, fella'
  • 'I am a master of special effects, I know what art direction is, I am a creator, a truly great one'
  • 'Hey, I even provided my team with goodies: look at my T-shirt! If I have printed those, it is because my project is serious. I want that message visibly clear. It is worth $10 per item'
  • 'It is not a fuzzy project, here are the historical games I quote, I know my stuff, trust me'
  • 'My game features everything you can have somewhere else + stuff I and only I provide'
  • 'Have a look at all those WIP/concept arts, we are working, for real, there will be something tangible, you are not paying for thin air, I assure you'
  • 'Look! I am not alone, I show you a lot of different people, we are a big and serious team'
I also love the fact that, aditionally to you pledge, you can buy a 'ship', to make it more like 'real commerce'.
People still pay for virtual stuff, but with the sensation of owning something... along with the classical 'use real money to buy virtual one'... non refundable? ;-) )

If they are as good creators as marketers, that sounds promising

I really would like all those promises to become real.
However, often 'too good to be true', reality always end up winning... along with those 'visionaries' bank account

Yet another MMO?
With such a great game, you will even forget that GTA V exists. :eh:

Largest crowd-funded dev project in history, of everything, ever. $45 million raised and counting. Copy of the game and a ship - $30. If the most common criticism of these guys is they are too ambitious, they can take my money. What I've played so far is looking and playing spectacularly.
