Hit & Run UK Certificate 18

Genre : Crime/Horror

Directed by : Enda McCallon

Mary Murdock (Laura Breckenridge) is like any other American college undergraduate, only her idea of a ???killer??™ Spring Break has to be taken almost literally. Driving back after a party the student bumps against something on the highway. Thinking at first to have run down an animal, Mary then realises with horror that the victim is a man; shaken and confused she knocks him unconscious and, convinced of his death, buries him alive in the woods. In complete shock, Mary runs back home just to find out that the stranger is far from dead and he is chasing her down to seek revenge.

A reasonably well acted horror with some scary moments...Storyline is good.

Make no mistake -- you need to get into the right mood to properly enjoy this film. Try watching it with your cynical or populist friends and they'll pour scorn upon it. Don't try to convince others to 'get it' as they won't.

The best thing to do is to turn off all of the lights, pump up the sound and absorb yourself in the spectacle that unfolds on the screen. If you do this, you'll experience one of the most breathtaking, moving and exciting pieces of art ever. There are few films that reach these heights -- 2001: A Space Odyssey is the only one that instantly comes to mind.

Don't analyse it until it's finished. Talking through it will ruin it. I've found that the film works best on an emotional level so switch your brain off and just watch and listen. By the time it's finished, you'll feel like you've been on an exhausting and exhilarating journey that you'll want to take again not long afterwards. "

Another for me...

Equilibrium

Genre: Sci-Fi / Action / Thriller

From Kurt Wimmer, the director of Ultraviolet & producer Jan De Bont, the director of Speed & Twister, comes this futuristic action-packed martial arts spectacular starring Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, American Psycho), Taye Diggs ("Private Practice", Chicago), & Emily Watson (The Water Horse: Legend Of The Deep, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride)!

In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death.

Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

Packed with stunning fight choreography, dazzling visual effects, and a story that transcends past, present, & future tense, "Equilibrium" is a sci-fi action-thriller that will leave you breathless!

Two More from me :

Antibody UK Certificate 15

Genre : Sci-Fi/Horror

Directed By : Chris McIntire

When International terrorist Anthony Moran suddenly appears in Washington DC the elite US anti-terrorist forces prepare to take him out. But Moran coolly explains that he has planted a nuclear device somewhere in the Capital and the detonator is hidden inside his body. Fuelled by his bodies own natural electrical current, if he dies the detonator is programmed to explode. To retrieve the detonator an experimental miniaturisation module containg a team of scientists must be deployed to enter the terrorists body and terminate the doomsday device.

A bit of a rip-off idea from Fantastic Voyage, and unfortunately not as good.
Acting & Storyline are so-so, the Special Effects are on a Budget...And it shows.

One for die hards only.
5/10

Wishbaby UK Certificate 18

Genre : Horror

Directed by : Stephen Parsons

WISHBABY is a British indie horror starring EASTENDERS' Tiana Benjamin as Maxine, a young woman who discovers--the hard way--that you should be careful what you wish for. After rescuing a strange old lady (Fenella Fielding) from being mugged, Maxine is rewarded with an eerie secret... how to make a magic doll that can grant wishes, otherwise known as a 'Wishbaby'. Maxine can't resist putting the doll to work on her personal problems, but soon her gift takes a sinister supernatural turn--putting herself and her brother Colin (Doc Brown) in grave danger.

Well I tried hard to get enthusiastic about this film, Good Acting & reasonable Storyline. But not terrifying as the hype led you to believe..If it was not for good performances I would judge this film as mediocre...And I believe the original BBFC of 15 was correct, it was only given an 18 on the instance of the Director.
