TWO MORE REVIEWS.

Gran Torino UK Certificate 15

Genre : Action/Crime

Directed by :Clint Eastwood

Walt Kowalski is a widower who holds onto his prejudices despite the changes in his Michigan neighborhood and the world around him. Kowalski is a grumpy, tough-minded, unhappy old man, who can't get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1972 Gran Torino he keeps in mint condition. When his neighbor Thao, a young Hmong teenager under pressure from his gang member cousin, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Thao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them from the gangs that infest their neighborhood.

Well a typical Clint Eastwood action movie, not the best I have seen by Him. Nevertheless a well acted Storyline, with good Action moments.....

7/10

Punisher War Zone UK Certificate 18

Genre : Action/Crime

Directed by : Lexi Alexander

Infamous vigilante, anti-hero Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) is six years into his vengeance driven zeal as the Punisher when he brutally assaults a "beat the rap" party for notorious mob boss Gaitano Cesare. During the course of the massacre, he hideously disfigures overeager gangster Billy Russoti (Dominic West) and murders a mafia lackey who turns out to be an undercover FBI agent.
Agent Paul Budiansky (Colin Salmon), the ex-partner of the undercover Fed, joins the NYPD's "Punisher Task Force" to help bring Castle to justice, once and for all.
A facially mutilated Russoti recovers from his run-in with the Punisher with revenge on his mind and recruits a massive army of psychotic killers, gangbangers, and mobsters under his new alias "Jigsaw."

This is not a good a film as the Punisher, reviewed earlier, not as sharp, nor did I empathize with the Characters as I did with the original.
That said there are some strong action moments and special effects.

Scared for their lives, Megan and Dylan run from the car into the lonely desert darkness where their nightmarish journey is only just beginning...

The mystery here was why this was ever made, poor storyline that did not give the actors a chance.
Low budget special effects compliments this dire film.....Seems that it might do well on Cable TV at 3.00 am in the morning.

He starts his time-limited pursuit of shadowy figures, the ice chest, and his heart aided by Eve, Rei, and Venus - a stripper, a prostitute, and a pal with Tourette's - constantly needing an electric charge to keep going.

This follows on from the first outing....High octane action, great special effects & the usuall larconic acting from Statham.

Far Cry UK Certificate 18

Genre : Action/Sci-Fi

Directed by : Uwe Boll

An adaptation of the first-person-shooter video game where Jack Carver, a retired Special Forces Officer who now is transport for hire, by people and cargo. He goes through hell when his boat is attacked and destroyed by an unknown party while Val is away. Surviving by the skin of his teeth, he must now find Val and uncover what is truly happening on these dark and mysterious islands.

Well the only resemblance to the game is the Title...and very little else. Surprisingly low key direction by Boll nothing as hard hitting as Seed & Tunnel Rats (both reviewed earlier).
Acting was so-so as was the storyline, however some of the set piece action was good.

One if you have no others to watch.

5/10

Splinter UK Certificate 18

Genre: Action/Crime/Thriller

Amidst a rising body count and the threat of an all-out gang war, the four characters lock themselves in a brutal end-game as they discover who among them is creating the brutal chaos.

This is not the Horror film of the same name reviewed earlier.
A good crime story and performances makes for a neat thriller......not as good as the hype would have us believe. Anyway for Action/Crime addicts well worth watching.

Seven convicts escaped with him, yet Pearce was the only one that emerged... along with chunks of human flesh in his pockets. The legend of Pearce was born. An extinct species... a long forgotten legend... both had a desperate need to survive; both could now have living descendants within the Tasmanian bush. Many sightings of the tiger have been reported. Many hikers have gone missing. Hundreds in fact. Surviving Evil UK Certificate 15

Genre: Action/Horror

Directed by : Terence Daw

Upon arriving on the island, the jovial crew begins shooting a jungle survival special hosted by Sebastian 'Seb' Beazley (Billy Zane), though the laid-back atmosphere soon gives way to sheer terror when the Aswang arrives to feed on the naive newcomers.

A nice idea spoilt i guess from a lack of budget to add better special effects. However well acted and a good storyline lifts the Film
