The Traveller
UK Certificate 18

Genre : Horror/Thriller

Directed by : Michael Oblowitz

Starring : Val Kilmer/Camille Sullivan/Dylan Neal

They call him Mr. Nobody and Deputy Hawkins recalls that he resembles the haired drifter that they had arrested and tortured one year ago, when the daughter of Detective Black had vanished. Along the night, while Mr. Nobody confesses each murder and whistles Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem, each deputy dies. Sooner Detective Black discovers that Mr. Nobody is a revengeful spirit that has come to kill them for what they did to the drifter one year ago and they are doomed to die.

<><><>

Oh dear....This could have been much better...A somewhat confusing storyline & a mediocre conclusion...The Horror effects are good but hardly make up for a fairly average movie.

But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them.....

<><><>

Not a lot I can say about this Film...It's neither much of a Horror or particulary thrilling..in fact it was boring. I think that it was trying to be all things to all people, and failed.

A pity really had potential..Watch a "Company of Wolves" instead

Hindenburg
UK Certificate 15

Genre : Drama/History

Directed by : Philipp Kadelbach

Starring : Lauren Lee Smith/Stacey Keach/Greta Scacchi

Frankfurt, May 1937. The Hindenburg, the world's largest airship, is getting ready to fly to New York. A vehicle of staggering dimensions, it is the pride of Nazi Germany. But it has one serious flaw: due to an American embargo preventing the sale of helium to Germany, the Hindenburg is filled with highly combustible hydrogen gas instead...

<><><>

A shame about a rather average storyline, especially considering the Performances & Special Effects.
The musical score I liked, except the song at the end which I felt was not in keeping with the mood or era.
Sadly a missed opportunity.

Still worth a look

Somehow I cannot help thinking we have been here before...This movie is short, 84 mins, but is fast paced with some good special effects...
The storyline is average however & the ending seems to give you the idea that there will be a sequel.

Yellow Brick Road
UK Certificate 15

Genre : Horror/Thriller

Directed by : Andy Mitton/Jesse Holland

Starring : Michael Laurino/Anessa Ramsey/Alex Draper

One Morning in New England, 1940, the entire population of Friar New Hampshire - 572 people - walked together up a winding mountain trail and into the wilderness. They left behind their clothes, their money, all of their essentials. Even their dogs were abandoned, tied to posts and left to starve. No One knows why. A search party dispatched by the U.S. Army eventually discovered the remains of nearly 300 of Friar's evacuees. Many had frozen to death. Others were cruelly and mysteriously slaughtered. The bodies of the remaining citizens are still unaccounted for. Over the years, a quiet cover-up operation managed to weave the story of Friar into the stuff of legends and backwoods fairy tales. The town has slowly repopulated, but the vast wilderness is mostly untracked, with the northern-most stretches off limits to local hunters and loggers. In 2008, the coordinates for the "YELLOWBRICKROAD" trail head were declassified. The first official expedition into a dark and twisted wilderness will attempt to solve the mystery of the lost citizens of Friar...and reach the end of the trail....

Well not a bad effort, not particularly scary and I must say promised much but did not deliver...The Ending was odd as well.

Attack the Block UK Certificare 15

Genre : Action/Comedy/Sci-Fi

Directed By : Joe Cornish

Starring : Nick Frost/Jodie Whittaker

Trainee nurse Sam is walking home to her flat in a scary South London tower block when she’s robbed by a gang of masked, hooded youths. She’s saved when the gang are distracted by a bright meteorite, which falls from the sky and hits a nearby parked car. Sam flees, just before the gang are attacked by a small alien creature that leaps from the wreckage. The gang chase the creature and kill it, dragging its ghoulish carcass to the top of the block, which they treat as their territory.
While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of meteors fall. Confident of victory against such feeble invaders, the gang grab weapons, mount bikes and mopeds, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are bigger. Much bigger. Savage, shadowy and bestial, they are hunting their fallen comrade and nothing will stand in their way. The estate is about to become a battleground. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her, and the block’s, only hope.

<><><>

Well I think this movie sits in the "Take it or leave it" category....Not much on laughs, but fun all the same...Reasonable Storyline & good Direction.
Not a classic by any means & and not good as "Shaun Of The Dead".

A rather disappointing adaption of John Marsden's Books....True there are some slick action sequences & the panaromic views of the National Park are awsome. But otherwise fairly average fair..

51 UK Certificate 18

Genre : Horror/Sci-Fi

Directed by : Jason Connery

Starring : Jason London/Rachael Miner/Bruce Boxleitner

51 chronicles what happens after political pressure from the American public forces the Air Force to provide a few well-known reporters with limited access to the most secretive base on the planet: Area 51. When one of the base's hidden 'long term visitors' exploits this unprecedented visit as a chance to liberate himself and his fellow alien captives, Area 51 turns from a secure government base to a horrifying destination of terror.

<><><>

A lost opportunity probably due to a very low budget....The Storyline was patchy, the special effects were ok given the budget.
Boxleitner, you remember him in "Babylon 5", was fine & added a certain amount of wait to some bland acting.....
I can only recommend this movie to Sci-Fi nuts.....

A rather nasty foray into gruesome torture horror...Well acted, but we have been here before & to be honest get's to be less enjoyable.
However the Special effects are good, & De Mornay's performance shines as Mother.

The Thaw
UK Certificate 15

Genre : Horror/Sci-Fi/Thriller

Directed by : Mark A. Lewis

Starring : Martha Macisaac/Aaron Ashmore/Val Kilmer

Not a particularly suspenseful film, competant but thats it...and ohh some blatant nonsense about global warming.
That said a movie for those spare moments.
