Another outing in the series, not as good as before, but just as entertaining.

Those that like X-men will like this.

Vikings Season 2
UK certificate 18
472 mins (10 episodes)

Image

Genre : Action/Drama/History/War

Directed by : Ken Girotti

Starring : Travis Fimmel/Katheryn Winnick/Clive Standen

<><><>

The series tells the sagas of Ragnar's band of Viking brothers and his family, as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods, legend has it that he was a direct descendant of Odin, the god of war and warriors.

<><><>

Season 2....Just as good as season 1 if not better...
Outstanding performances, well paced engrossing storyline brings to life the Vikings age...
Often brutal and bloody...and make no mistake some scenes are stomach churning.
The cinematography is superb catching the barren landscapes of the North and the musical score compliments.
Highly recommended

Starring : Mark Wahlberg/Stanley Tucci/Kelsey Grammer

<><><>

Autobots must escape sight from a bounty hunter who takes control of the human serendipity: Unexpectedly, Optimus Prime and his remaining gang turn to a mechanic and his daughter for help..

<><><>

Yet another helping in this series...and to my mind the worst.
The special effects were awesome but unfortunately that would be about it.
No character development of the Aliens which in my view would have helped the storyline.
So we were left with a film way to long for the storyline to support which in turn added to the general feeling that the Director had lost touch.

Even fans of the franchise will find it hard liking this.

Suspicion gives way to violence as the group starts to piece together clues about their identities, but when they uncover a threat that's more vicious - and hungry - than each other, they are forced to figure out what brought them all together - before it's too late.

<><><>

A really smart suspenseful movie which will keep your attention....
Nicely paced, good performances and musical score add to the foreboding atmosphere.
Oh and a great ending.
Worth a watch

An intelligent Sc-Fi outing in this franchise...CGI is top draw as well as the performances.... of particular note is Serkis portrayal of Caesar.
However I felt the storyline was a tad bland in places and lacking in substance.
Nevertheless I enjoyed ...

Hot on their heels is an entire German battalion, intent on capturing the soldiers and retrieving the stolen intelligence before they make it to safety.

The Theory of Everything.....

Genre : Biography / Drama / Romance

Director: James Marsh

The story is of the most brilliant and celebrated physicist of our time, Stephen Hawking, and Jane Wilde the arts student he fell in love with whilst studying at Cambridge in the 1960s.

The Theory of Everything is the extraordinary and uplifting story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, and of two people defying the steepest of odds through love. The film, based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (Man on Wire). In 1963, as a cosmology student at the storied U.K. university Cambridge, Stephen (portrayed by Eddie Redmayne of Les Misérables) is making great strides and is determined to find a "simple, eloquent explanation" for the universe. His own world opens up when he falls deeply in love with an arts major, fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones of The Invisible Woman). But, at 21 years of age, this healthy, active young man receives an earth-shattering diagnosis: motor neuron disease will attack his limbs and his abilities, leaving him with limited speech and movement, and will take his life within two years.

Jane's love, fierce support, and determination are unwavering – and the duo wed. With his new wife fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen refuses to accept his diagnosis. Jane encourages Stephen to finish his doctorate, which includes his initial theory of the creation of the universe. They start a family, and with his newly earned and widely hailed doctorate Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. As his body faces more limits, his mind continues to explore the outer limits of theoretical physics.

Together, he and Jane defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed – well into the 21st century.

Hercules

Image

Genre : Action/Adventure

Directed by : Brett Ratner

Starring : Dwayne Johnson/Ian McShane/Rufus Sewell

<><><>

Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules was the powerful son of the god king Zeus, for this he received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labors and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul turned his back on the gods finding his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warmed to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. These men and woman never question where they go to fight or why or whom, just how much they will be paid. Now the King of Thrace has hired these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time. It is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen when they must train an army to become as ruthless and blood thirsty as their reputation has become.

<><><>

The Rock plays a good Hercules, but is let down by his character development in the Storyline which at best was average.
Good action scenes and excellent special effects compensate....

But taking matters into their own hands gets the trio in way over their heads when they discover a mysterious being from another world who desperately needs their help. The epic, suspenseful and exciting journey that follows will change all of their lives forever.

<><><>

Oh dear some directors just cannot get away from the "found footage" concept...
Shaky camera work is to my mind a real turn off....
Additionally this is not an improvement on ET which was far better in character development.
Some may like this, but to be honest I did not.

It was supposed to be a simple job. All Lucy had to do was deliver a mysterious briefcase to Mr. Jang. When the bag she is carrying inside of her stomach leaks, Lucy's body undergoes unimaginable changes that unlocks her mind's full potential 100%. With her new-found powers, Lucy turns into a merciless warrior intent on getting back at her captors.

<><><>

Well what can I say....I enjoyed this film..Johansson's performance as Lucy was just right.
The storyline was ok but I felt that it could have been better..That said the direction was top draw ( Besson of Leon & Taken fame).
The special effects were good particularly those near the end.
It is not often that an original Sci-Fi movie with a budget is released....yes it has had mixed reviews,
but for my money is well worth watching.

The special effects are reasonable to....

The storyline was acceptable, and I was kept interested...but the production values should have been far better.
One for late night....

I was not disappointed with this film which is based on the TV series....
Washington at his best with good action sequences and special effects.
Yes brutal and bloody, but that is the story background, so handed out with precision.
Good storyline and performances compliment.

An anonymous group will stop at nothing to unearth the truth behind what happened that night to the men and prove to the world that we were never alone in the universe.

Ohhh dear another turkey....low budget and it shows.
Pity the concept was ok, but the performances and special effects were average.
Nonsensical storyline compliments.

In the mean streets of London's East End, a former Serbian commando and a fourteen-year old boy plot revenge against a powerful crime lord and his ruthless lieutenants. As our heroes prepare to take on their enemies, the boy is mentored in the dark arts of assassination and learns the true meaning of friendship, honor and respect.

To be honest I was not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The Storyline is entertaining and gritty with brutal & bloody moments which stand out.
The performances were excellent....only one thing, you will need to suspend belief as you see a 14 year old boy master the dark arts.
That said I recommend a watch.
