In 1982, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns," appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. An Interesting Mystery Drama in the style of Solaris....Strong Performances & realistic Effects.
This is very much a thoughful Sc-Fi storyline so not for those who like action..

That said highly recommended.

The Final Destination UK Certificate 15

Genre : Horror

Directed by : David Ellis

A strange premonition causes friends to abandon their day at the speedway, just before a crushing pileup hurtles cars into the bleachers with fiery consequences. They have cheated death. But death is only getting started......

<><><>

The fourth in the series & the worst.
Even though you can watch this in 3D it does little to enhance what is quiet simply a pour storyline.
No character development. The special effects are good however...

One then for die hard Horror fans.

DVD can be viewed in either 2D or 3D (glasses provided)

This is indeed an intense portrial of those that have to disarm Bombs.

ANOTHER DVD FILM REVIEW

Antichrist UK Certificate 18

Genre : Drama/Horror

Directed By : Lars Von Trier

A couple lose their young son when he falls out the window while they have sex in the other room. The mother's grief consigns her to hospital, but her therapist husband brings her home intent on treating her depression himself. To confront her fears they go to stay at their remote cabin in the woods, "Eden", where something untold happened the previous summer. Told in four chapters with a prologue and epilogue, the film details acts of lustful cruelty as the man and woman unfold the darker side of nature outside and within.......

<><><>

This is a controversal Film in every way.
Not pornographic to my mind, since the relevant scenes do fit well within the Storyline. That said, I wonder whether the Director could not have dealt with the Emotions they relate to in some other way.

Perhaps not, Trier is after all known for his avant garde work, his ability to weave a story & exact memorable performances from the Actors. Make no mistake the Performances were awsome as is the Stunning photography. However at times I felt the urge to turn away, you could almost feel the physical pain & the presence of evil.

The Film then is bound to offend some, others may not like the gradual descent to depravity & madness & perhaps cure. It is a Movie rich in symbolism....But that really depends on your point of view.
There were times when I felt like switching it off...Yes Uncomfortable viewing, but that is what avante garde cinema often is.

WARNINGS :

The trailer contains mild sex act.

The FILM
Contains Strong Real Sex, Self Mutilation & Bloody violence.

Cannibal Holocaust (1980)

*Horror movie
*1h 35min

( Text from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:)
*Cannibal Holocaust is a controversial exploitation film directed by Ruggero Deodato from a screenplay by Gianfranco Clerici. Filmed in the Amazon Rainforest, the movie tells the story of four documentarians who journey deep into the jungle to film indigenous tribes. Two months later, after they fail to return, famous anthropologist Harold Monroe travels on a rescue mission to find the group. Eventually, he recovers and views their lost cans of film, which reveal the missing filmmakers' fate. The film stars Robert Kerman as Monroe, Carl Gabriel Yorke as director Alan Yates, Francesca Ciardi as Alan's girlfriend Faye, Perry Pirkanen as cameraman Jack Anders, and Luca Barbareschi as fellow cameraman Mark Tomaso.

Cannibal Holocaust is a well known exploitation film because of the controversy following its release. After premiering in Italy, the film was seized by a local magistrate, and Deodato was arrested on obscenity charges. He was later accused of making a snuff film due to rumors which claimed that certain actors were killed on camera. Although Deodato was later cleared of these charges, the film was banned in Italy, the UK, Australia, and several other countries due to its graphic depiction of gore, sexual violence, and the inclusion of six genuine animal deaths. Many nations have since revoked the ban, yet the film is still barred in several countries. This notoriety notwithstanding, some critics view Cannibal Holocaust as a social commentary about civilized society.

ANOTHER REVIEW

Passchendaele UK Certificate 15

Genre : Drama/Romance/War

Directed By : Paul Gross

Starring : Paul Gross/Caroline Dhavernas

Passchendaele depicts one man's story during the battle of the same name, Ypres, Belgium. Michael Dunne (Paul Gross) returns home from the front lines to server as a recruiter. The soldier suffers severe psychological problems, after serving in many major World War 1 battles. Ridiculed by the locals as a coward and a deserter, Dunne falls in love with military nurse Sarah Mann (Caroline Dhavernas). The nurse’s younger brother David (Joe Dinicol) desperately wants to serve his country overseas, but Dunne does everything in his power to keep him from enlisting. Upon failing from keeping the boy out of the army, Dunne re-enlists to protect the younger brother of his love.

<><><>

This is an intense & unforgiving look into one man's life at the time. Strong performances compliment a well written Storyline together with superb photographic sequences.
It is strong on characterisation & to my mind all the good for that.
But make no mistake the horror of Flanders Battlefield of 1917 is brought across with unforgiving realism.

Has been a while since a good Intersteller horror movie has come along, but this is no "Alien".

The Performances are strong with a reasonable storyline, but I found my attention wondering sometimes...so not as gripping, in my view, as it should be.
